Fruit
Juice {Pineapple} Production In Nigeria
Fruits juice production is a viable project as raw materials are
readily available in Nigeria.
Raw materials for fruits juice are oranges, lime, lemon,
grape, paw paw, guava, pineapple and mangoes. These are grown in
abundance in Nigeria and they waste away during the production
season. There is every assurance that the plant will work round
the year as constant supply of raw materials (fruits) is
guaranteed.
Nigeria has a huge and untapped market potential in the sale and
use of processed pineapple products as we currently import
concentrates (used for the production of fruit juice and
sweeteners) from South Africa and Europe.
Several factors such as increasing disposable incomes, value
addition, product innovation and growth in emerging markets have
helped to sustain the demand and growth of the Juice industry
coupled also of the ban on their importation in to Nigeria.
The demand and supply gap is huge which informs the resolve to
venture in the manageable scale production and distribution of
the products within
production vicinity and extending sales marketing to
distributive hubs that is close to the Plant. Trade distributive
in hub in Nigeria is in Lagos, Onitsha, Kano and Port Harcourt.
The
fruit juice market has shown strong growth due to shifting
trends among health conscious consumers from carbonated drinks
towards natural beverages. There are over 70 brands of fruit
juice in the Nigerian market. Prior to the ban, approximately 80
percent (about 170m litres per year, valued at $255m) of
Nigeria’s demand for fruit juice was filled by imports, however
more inclusive manufacturing began to be noticeable with bigger
plants and firm in the sector with Most popular brands of fruit
juices in the Nigerian markets today are: Frutta, Edge, 5 Alive,
Chivita, Fumman, Dansa, Fan Juice, Chi Exotic, Lloyd’s fruit
squeeze, Dudu, Cyway natural drink
With Coca-Cola taken full ownership of CHI Limited in late 2018
it became the biggest producer of fruit juice in Nigeria in
direct competition with Dansa, Cway, Fruita and Fan Limited.
